A WRITER'S BLOCK

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Gennita Low's Writing Muse needs a voice now and then to remind Gennita about her love for writing and her battle with words. It's a dark world illuminated by the glow of creation. The Muse is that light. Sometimes she sleeps. Sometimes she's ferocious. Often she patiently waits. Pst. Never ignore her. Feed the Muse or else.

What does this picture say to you as a writer?

To me, it signifies an author and her biggest temptation, whatever that is. Mine is starting a new story. It's so difficult for me to sit down and write/finish my story because I'm forever wanting to take another bite of that new shiny apple. Sigh. Any suggestions, Auntie Muse?

It makes me think of the wicked witch in snow white with her hooded cape and offering the temptation of an apple. But the woman in the picture is also youthful.

As a writer it makes me think of complex characters and how a character, or writer, might put themselves forward as one thing but be another.

Ah, writrgr,

Your temptation is a really difficult one to overcome because there are so many stories you want to tell, right? My suggestion is not going to be easy. You need to start loving your story more. Respect your characters because they have more than a taste to give you. Give them the chance to tell you what comes next instead of going to the next set of characters. Then they'll respect you and won't mock you with more apples.

Keryn Angell,

Perception is very important in character building. The more deceptive a character, the more layered and interesting he becomes to the reader, don't you think?

In this picture, the picture of innocence could be the true face of evil. It is the study of taking things at face value. All thrillers have this one element: who can you trust? I try to pound this into Gennita all the time.

Do not hide behind a cloak of fear and shame, burrowing beneath a false dignity. Embrace the sweet and forbidden part of your nature. It will be okay. Innocence and sublimity are true to your entire nature. To deny one side of yourself is to deny you entirely and the gift of live and the freedoms of choosing your paths were predestined from the first breathe of life filling your soul and emptying into your body.

I'm not a writer, so I'm just throwing this out there:

Pay attention. Something is about to happen.
